What’s the distinction between a flagship and a “Fan Edition” if you can only barely perceive it? Leaked real-world images of Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S25 FE suggest the response is: not very much at all. The photos show a phone that’s similar to the Galaxy S25 and S25+ in design and silhouette, with only subtle hints like a strip of silver along the camera lenses and bezels that are a fraction thicker towards its lower price.

Beneath that familiar veneer, however, the S25 FE should be driven by Samsung’s Exynos 2400 system-on-chip, with a 4,900mAh battery. This mix brings it close to flagship ground in day-to-day responsiveness but shy of the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s all-out performance ceiling. The Exynos 2400, built on Samsung’s 4nm process, employs a deca-core CPU design with a Cortex-X4 primary core, multiple Cortex-A720 performance cores, and efficiency-focused Cortex-A520 cores. Its Xclipse 940 GPU, which is based on AMD RDNA 3 architecture, offers advanced ray tracing and delivers GPU compute scores typical of heavy-duty high-end gaming software. The Snapdragon 8 Elite leads in sustained performance and power consumption, yet the Exynos 2400’s AI acceleration hardware Samsung-designed NPU is optimized for multimodal Galaxy AI features without the thermal throttling of past Exynos generations.
That AI integration is a story about what makes up the S25 FE. According to the leak, the phone will feature the full Galaxy AI suite, including Interpreter for real-time multilingual conversation and Now Brief, which condenses incoming information into compact summaries. Those tools, released on the Galaxy S25 lineup, use on-device computation to reduce latency and preserve privacy. In One UI 8, Samsung pushed AI capabilities to on-screen context awareness so proactive propositions can be made such as identifying landmarks in a photo or proposing scheduling events pertaining to something one discussed in a message without cloud queries.
By design and ergonomics, the S25 FE is reported to be 7.4mm thick and 190 grams, a reduction from the 8mm, 213-gram Galaxy S24 FE. It achieves this drop without compromise to display size: the 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen preserves its adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and can hit 2,600 nits peak brightness, equaling the flagship S25 for visibility in direct sunlight. The bezels, though thicker than the S25’s, are thinner than on earlier FE devices, thanks to improvements in panel bonding and internal architecture.
Camera hardware appears almost identical to last year’s FE, with 50MP primary sensor, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto for 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is also said to jump to 12MP, possibly up to the level of the flagship selfie camera quality. This configuration gives the S25 FE one advantage over the Galaxy S25 Edge: utilizing a dedicated telephoto lens, which is a little something of a novelty on phones under $700.
In terms of connectivity and ruggedness, the phone will feature IP67 dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and an in-display fingerprint reader. Charging remains 25W wired and 15W wireless, a step down from the 45W rates found on the more expensive models but consistent with what the FE series has thus far been striving for.
The choice of Exynos instead of Snapdragon is as much business as it is technological. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite would come at a premium that would put the FE above its desired market. Utilizing its own chips, Samsung can offer near-flagship AI and multimedia support at a projected price in the $649 range, roughly $450 less than the Galaxy S25 Edge.
The timing of this roll-out is also coincidental with Samsung’s quicker software rollout. One UI 8, on Android 16, ships on the S25 FE out of the box, giving it a seven OS major update runway ending on Android 23 longer than the S25 flagships which rolled out earlier in the year. This means the FE will complete its lifecycle on Android 23, effectively lasting longer than its pricier siblings when it comes to software support.
If the rumors hold true, the Galaxy S25 FE will blur the line between mid-rangers and flagships more than any FE to date, offering the same AI ecosystem, high-brightness 120Hz display, and telephoto camera in a thinner package at a price hundreds of dollars lower than Samsung’s flagships.
